PRINTED LEAVE PIECE

I was asked to create a series of illustrations for a printed leave-piece aimed at health care professionalsn (HCPs). With the title ‘Picture a better recovery’, the piece needed to communicate the benefits of a high-protein supplement from the perspective of a patients’ full recovery timeline – hospital, discharge to tube feeding in the community.

The Problem

HCPs choose various protein products from different suppliers when they could be getting the full range from a single supplier that helps patients every step of their recovery.

The Solution

Working with the art director who devised a series of scenarios depicting patients in various stages of recovery,  I came up with a loose, informal illustrational style that

  • humanises the concept of tube feeding, and
  • helps the viewer to relate to the process of rehabilitation beyond a medical environment.

To help show the timeline of the patients’ recovery, we needed to visually show each stage of their progression. Illustration was best suited to show this graphical element while showing the patient getting on with their lives.

By showing a less clinical concept of recovery, HCPs were able to imagine their patients in their lives beyond hospital and so be encouraged to invest in this future.

There was a great response to the piece from the client and HPCs.
